The moon was covered behind clouds. It was a night that you could harldy see your paws when you walked. The spotted tom slunk down to the nursery and nudged the tuxedo queen. He wished to speak to her.
"Come Midnightgaze. Let us go to my den." He whispered in the queens ear before slowly walking towards his den.

Midnightgaze settled into her nest for the night. It was so dark that she felt like she could be invisible. The queen curled her tail around her and lightly placed it over her nose. Her bright green eyes closed slowly as she drifted off to sleep. A dream was starting up in her mind when a voice from the outside world called her named. She opened her eyes to see Fawnstar standing in front of her. The queen nodded her head and got to her paws. Her mouth parted into a yawn as she slipped out of the den. Midnightgaze spotted the tom and padded after him, going into his den. "Is everything alright, Fawnstar?" She asked, her voice soft and quiet. It as a silent night tonight, so she felt that if the she-cat didn't whisper, she could wake up the others. |

Fawnstar nodded and walked into the den, holding the reeds until Midnightgaze stepped through and he let the reeds swish behind him. He sat down and sighed.
"Midnightgaze. I wish for you to accompany me to the Tallest Peak. Something Magical might happen. Also, i must confess something." He whispered.

The black and white queen sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws. "I would love to come with you to the Tallest Peak. It would be an honor." She smiled brightly. "Magical? And what confession do you have to make?" Midnightgaze asked out of curiosity. |

"Very magical. You will get to see my ancestors." He gulped and continued "I must confess that I do not yet have my 9 lives. And that I don't believe. " He meowed hanging his head.
Fawnstar looked at the tuxedo and smiled weakly. He hadn't even told his own brother about it yet.
"And that, I see that look in your eyes. I know you want kits of your own. I want more children. They grow up to be the best warriors. Expecially from the right mother." He meowed shuffling his paws

Midnightgaze's eyes widened. Her leader didn't have his nine lives? Is it right to call him their leader then? "Oh, well your going to go get them, right? That's why your traveling to the Tallest Peak?" She said. And then another surprise hit the black and white queen. She was a little confused about what he was trying to get at. "Yes, I do want kits of my own. It's a dream that in due time with come to be reality. But for now, I just wait. Why are we bringing this up?" The queen meowed, tilting her head to the side slightly. "I shouldn't even have my leader name. But nobody else knows. not even Lynxfang. Tomorrow we will make the long journey to the Tallest Peaks. Make sure you are rested." He meowed "I know someone that would make a perfect father. But he isn't me."
Fawnstar got up and licked the queens forehead before turning his back and sitting outside of his den with the reed curtain behind him

The she-cat watched him slip out of the den and sat there for a moment or two. She just got hit with so many new things, she didn't know what to concentrate on first. After putting her mind at ease, she rose to her paws and followed the Fawnstar out. "I am honored that you chose me to share your secret. I will travel with you tomorrow." She said and then took a pause before moving on. "I thank you, but I am in no rush to have kits at the moment. I will be patient and wait for the tom I will fall in love with." Midnightgaze meowed. |

Fawnstar looked at her with clouded eyes.
"Of course. I will call you in the early morning." He meowed, "You can go now, but you don't have too."
Fawnstar turned his head as tears began to stain him pelt. He looked over the edge of his den and dipped his paw in the water and swirled it around.

Midnightgaze saw the Tim's clouded eyes. She sigh heavily, knowing that she upset him. The tuxedo cat rose to her paws again and padded closer to her leader. She softly placed her tail on his shoulder. "Are you okay? I'm sorry if I upset you." She meowed. The queen wasn't leaving until she knew he was okay. [/color] |

He looked at her and again smiled.
"It is not you. It is that I miss my children. I wonder how they are doing." He meowed.
In the water he saw the appearances of Skywing, Brokenflight, Raccoontalon, Coyotehowl, and Cloudrunner. He wondered if they were alive even. He knew Skywing was but not the others. He didn't even know their names.
"I have 5 kits. They are very special to me. But with our clan growing, it seems I cannot remember who they are anymore. " Fawnstar meowed with a heavy sigh.

Midnightgaze kept her tail where it was, on his shoulder. She casted her gaze down onto the ground. "I'm sorry about that. Kits always bring out the joy in cats." She looked back up at the tom and gave him a soft, comforting smile. "If you think about it, your kits will always be with you, in your heart. You may not know them physically but mentally, you will always know them. And that's because you're their father." She paused for a moment and a thought brewed in her head. She took a deep breath and swallowed her pride. "If...if it will make you happier, I will meet with the tom you have in mind, but I can't promise anything will happen. Okay?" She looked at him, waiting for an answer. She still kept her tail on his shoulder, not wanting to move it until her leader was happy again. [/color] |
